Nina Ott & Chris Lopes Trio Concert May 20th 2pm
As part of the month long Newton Artful Piano Project, We have invited a variety of virtuosos to appear at the Waban Library Center:
NINA OTT LOPES, Pianist/Composer/Arranger/Educator
Recently returned to the area after living in the San Francisco Bay Area. While in SF, she played with flautist John Calloway's Latin Collective, Scott Amendola/Jeff Parker 4tet, percussionist Michael Spiro, Louis Romero's Mazacote and several other Salsa /Latin Jazz ensembles. While there she played in several festivals including the San Jose and Stanford Jazz Festivals. As an educator Nina has taught at Berklee College of Music, The Stanford Jazz Workshop, SF Jazz Organization and Cranbrook Academy of Art in Detroit, as well as many others worldwide. Nina is currently playing in several projects including the Govoni/Olsen quintet and the South Coast Salsa Orchestra which she co-leads with trumpeter Doug Olsen. Ott also co-leads an original music group with her husband, bassist/composer Chris Lopes, which includes Ernesto Diaz on percussion and drummer Bertram Lehmann. This year Nina and Chris will have drummer Steve Langone join them. Steve played an amazing duo with Kevin Harris at last year's piano concert.
