Second Annual Black & White New Year's Eve Ball - December 31st

12/31/2008 7:00 pm

Dear Black & White New Year's Eve Ball Guest,

I am writing to communicate a tough decision that Waban Improvement Society Board members recently had to make. Due to planned attendance lower than we anticipated, we are forced to cancel this year's Black & White New Year's Eve Ball. The Waban Improvement Society is a non-profit organization that sponsors and supports many community events along with high school scholarships. The Board is disappointed to have to reach this decision, but it would not be prudent to go forward with the event if it would create a loss for the WIS, and that is what we are facing at present.

As you know, the state of our economy has affected all of us in different ways. We believe that this could be one reason that we have not gotten the response we were anticipating after last year's sensational launch of the ball. We still plan to hold the Ball as an annual event going forward. Challenging times require flexibility and creativity.  We do appreciate your past support of the Waban Improvement Society and hope it continues in the New Year. To better times for all of us!

If you are looking for something to do on New Year's Eve, Kouzina (617.558.7677) will be open and is offering a Pre Fix menu.  Please give Nelson Cognac, Chef and Owner, a call and let him know that the Waban Improvement Society sent you.  Hope to see you there.

Wishing you all the happiest, healthiest and most prosperous New Year!

Warm Regards,

Theresa Fitzpatrick  Co-president  WIS
