BEFORE: Years of cutbacks in Newton’s budget resulted in the 2008 closing of Waban’s library, hidden for years by overgrown trees and shrubs pictured above.

 The Waban Library Center is set to Open in September!

The Waban Improvement Society, your neighborhood organization, is thrilled to announce the reopening of the Waban Library Center this coming September! Our vision is to strengthen and expand upon the core mission of our neighborhood library by having it serve as a gateway for lifelong learning and as a hub for intellectual, cultural, social and physical enrichment. The new Waban Library Center will have expanded offerings and hours that better fit the needs and interests of the community. As a non-profit organization, The Waban Improvement Society asks for your support at this pivotal moment in our village life. Our goal is to raise an initial $25,000, which will finance the annual fee to the city for use and maintenance of the building as well as other basic overhead costs. We have raised $5,400 so far. Be a part of this exciting endeavor by making a tax-deductible donation. Make a stand with us and don't let this important piece of our special village slip away!
